If you’re familiar with the geography of our part of the world you will be aware that our inn overlooks one of the famed “Five Valleys” of Gloucestershire, that converge on the substantial town of Stroud on the western edge of the scenically beautiful Cotswolds.
Our valley is the lovely Painswick Valley, which leads from our little hamlet of Edge and the town of Painswick into Stroud along a route that is very busy in the summer months, when visitors pour in to enjoy the green glory of the Cotswold Hills.
If you’ve never explored the Stroud Valleys, summer is the perfect time to do it with the iridescent green fields setting of the golden stone cottages and flowers in full bloom.
Getting back to Nature
Of course, the area is also bursting with wildlife in the warm months, and local nature organisations have come together to create a celebration of all things bright and beautiful in our area this summer, which we’re happy to share with visitors.
There are nature events galore put on by a variety of projects, individuals, organisations and partnerships to enjoy in and around Stroud from now through to the end of August, all collected into a programme you can download from the conservation charity, Stroud Valleys Project.
We’ve picked some examples of the events for this natural summer extravaganza in the Stroud Valleys – but there are plenty more in the programme!
When you come to enjoy our nature events, don’t forget the sunscreen and hats, and please pop in to the Edgemoor Inn for a meal and a drink to tell us what you think of it all.
